The Framework for Open Learning Program (FOLP) is funded by DETYA to support programs which forward the use of information and communications technology in Education. Programs in all sectors of education (Schools, VET and Community Education and Higher Education) are supported. FOLP also supports infrastructure projects like development of EDNA.

Sponsoring a range of projects adds a rich diversity to   FOLP but also enables some fragmentation. Further it is difficult to provide project managers with opportunity to share their knowledge and outcomes.

In 1999, a FOLP project was developed to undertake a review of FOLP-funded projects, to enable FOLP participants to share their outcomes and to provide the Commonwealth with advice about future directions. This project was undertaken under contract by the Australian Curriculum Studies Association, the Australian Council for Computers in Education and the Technology Education Federation of Australia.

The project resulted in the development of this web site. It contains a recording of the events of the project, a first-time complete collation FOLP funded projects, an issues paper, a conference report, a recommendations paper and some commissioned papers about the use of information and communications technology in Education.
