TEAACT is the professional association for teachers of technology from Preschool through to Year 12 in the ACT. Membership is drawn from all sectors including special education and from both government and non-government schools. It is a unique forum for technology educators to meet within the ACT. General interest meetings are held approximately twice a term and committee meetings approximately once a month or as the need arises.

Currently TEAACT is involved in targeting primary teachers through the "Brass Tacks" workshops. The workshops provide a technology perspective to integrated primary curriculum and this year’s topics are: Up, Up and Away: integrated technology activities about flight Wrap It Up: integrated technology activities about packaging Other Worlds: integrated technology activities about fantasy.

Other professional development activities include visits to relevant sites, practical workshops, publication of resources, guest speakers, discussions on relevant issues such as OH&S and participation in the National Technology Month in September each year. TEAACT is also a member of the International Technology Education Association and in January 2000 TEAACT will be hosting a national ACET conference. Planning for this conference is well under way.

Membership of TEAACT can be at a school or individual rate and includes: regular copies of the TEAACT newsletter automatic membership of ACET open invitation to all meetings discounts for professional development activities access to national technology information, activities and conferences.
