PEPE Scholarship

The Management Committee of P.E.P.E.Inc. (Practical Experiences in Professional Education Inc), as part of its program, funds research into the practicum/fieldwork.

There are two categories:

1. Student Sponsorship Funds
One or two grants are available up to $1000 for postgraduate students studying the practicum.

2. "Seeding Grants"
Up to 2 grants are available for amounts up to $1000. These grants are specifically to develop research into the practicum .

For both categories a report must be provided in terms of a paper session at the next PEPE Conference in New Zealand in 2006. The grants may be awarded across a range of professions including Teacher Education, Nursing, Social Work and so on.

Special Considerations: In keeping with the cross- faculty nature of PEPE Inc., applications which address cross-facultv issues are strongly encouraged. This applies also for the areas of equity and social justice in relation to the practicum. Further, applications which involve a "partnership" between an institutional researcher and a field research will also be looked upon favourably.

Applications are therefore invited from interested members using the headings on the Application Form (see over). Applications for the next round of scholarships should be submitted to the Secretary, PEPE Inc. by March 31, 2005.

The following conditions apply:

(a) The application must specifically address some aspect of the practicum/field work.

(b) A report in terms of a paper must be delivered at the 2006 PEPE Conference. It is further expected that an academic paper will be submitted to a refereed research journal, sponsored by PEPE.

(c) Applications which relate to an honours or post graduate program, or lead to such a program, are strongly encouraged.

(d) Funds may be sought for expenditure related to the project eg. literature searches, postage, photocopying, research assistance, printing, video materials etc. Verification of expenditure is required on completion.

(e) The applicant must be a member of PEPE Inc.

Further enquiries may be made to Dr Jan Millwater at j.millwater@qut.edu.au
