What is this program about?

The impetus for this program comes from a number of sources. The first is an understanding that computer-using teachers have reached a plateau, a maturity and confidence in their use of their machines and that now what is needed is a re-visiting of some basic concepts of  teaching and learning with a view to these framing, shaping or modifying how learning technologies might best be used in the classroom.  The second is a belief in learning as socially constructed and negotiated and that this is best achieved through a community of practice. The third is the anecdotal evidence that really effective professional  development happens over time and in context.

So, this has led QSITE to the PD2000 series, Reinventing Practice, which is made up of six component units.

Higher Order Thinking: Reinventing Learning

Kids in Rows: Reinventing the Classroom

Socratic Questions: Reinventing the Blackline Master

Concept Mapping: Reinventing the Process of Learning

Research Skills: Reinventing the Search for Knowledge

Student-Centred Learning: Reinventing the Individual
