Examples of school priorities using the Index for Inclusion

  1. Developing strategies through the curriculum to develop students’ self esteem.
  2. Introducing staff development activities for making lessons more responsive to diversity.
  3. Enhancing the ownership and participation of all members of the school community.
  4. Devising a staff development program that focussed on understanding students’ perspectives.
  5. Promoting positive multicultural attitudes in school to help counter racism among some students and their families.
  6. Promoting within the school community, positive attitudes to diversity in order to emphasise the value of individuals and enhance partnerships among staff, students and their families.
  7. Arranging collaborative training for learning support personnel.
  8. Developing ways to encourage more collaborative learning amongst students.
  9. Developing ways to encourage more collaborative problem and learning among staff.
  10. Improving communication between home and school by working with parents/ carers.
