The main feature of the site is that it tells users, through a dietary anaylsis, whether they have eaten the recommended intake of the core foods and if not, then provides real food solutions and recipe suggestions to counter any deficiencies in their food intake. It provides easy ways to achieve the ideal nutritional balance for every lifestyle.
The site also provides an advanced analysis, which gives a greater breakdown of their intake including dietary fibre, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals..
The site also provides detailed information on food groups, nutrients, vitamins and minerals, kilojoules, vegetables, foods and substances to limit and diet related diseases. The site also provides information on genes, exercise and diet.
The website was developed in response to the health community’s increasing concern that people were not eating enough vegetables. In recent years, national nutrition surveys have consistently shown that people are eating less than the recommended daily intake of vegetables.
To comply with contemporary Australian standards, QFVG used recognised government agency standards such as the Recommended Dietary Intakes, Australian Guide to Healthy Eating (Core Food), Dietary Guidelines, Australian and NZ Food Authority principles and National Health and Physical Activity Guidelines.
