Thursday evening:
Prior to the conference dinner or late evening/early morning, why not try out some of Melbourne’s boutique bars around the Paris end of Melbourne (close to where the Conference Dinner will be held). There is the MCG Hotel next to the Hilton, the Windsor Hotel’s Cricket Bar, the Melbourne Supper Club and 44 Lonsdale Street, the Hairy Canary, Tony Starr’s Kitten Club, Hell’s Kitchen and Bar, Melbourne Supper Club Bar, Punch Lane, the bars at the new Westin Hotel...the list is endless. There is no excuse for being thirsty in Melbourne. Unfortunately Young and Jackson’s is closed for refurbishment so Chloe is not available for viewing. If you have not satisfied your thirst you could always try out P.J. O’Briens and the other bars at
Southbank.
1. Ellen’s Bar Tour 5.30pm from hotel foyer (heads towards the city, and proceeds straight to Conference Dinner at the Regent in Collins St so need to change beforehand). Itinerary includes: Windsor Hotel, Imperial Hotel and others… (Melbourne Supper Club, Hairy Canary, Tony Starr’s Kitten Club…) Some may have to be visited afterwards.
2. Drinks at the MCG Hotel, next to the Hilton with members of the conference planning committee (then back to hotel to change and be at Conference Dinner in the city at 7pm).
And post Conference Dinner late drinks at Café La (35th Floor, Sofitel Hotel, 25 Collins St), Langton’s (61 Flinders Lane) or Melbourne Supper Club Bar (161 Spring Street), or Hell’s Kitchen & Bar (20a Centre Place) or any of the nearby pubs eg. Bridie O’Reilly, the Elephant and the Barrow etc.
