Since its inception in 1997, VECO has worked closely and harmoniously with VETNETwork. With similar target audiences, it has always made sense to undertake complementary activities.

A serendipity of the  inaugural VETNETwork conference in 1998 was the repeated cries of "you don't look like your email" as people gathered and met for the first time, those they had come to know through the VECO online community. Indeed, conference attendance was influenced by people wanting to meet up with others.

In providing this conference website, VECO has two prime objectives:

1. To capture some of the essence of the conference by collecting materials from the workshops and concurrent sessions as an ongoing contextualised resource collection. Hence the database of conference materials.
   
2. To continue to experiment with online technologies by recoding audio of some keynotes and publishing edited transcripts.

The VECO website includes event reports of other professional development events relevant to Vocational Learning.
